IT and regions of Russia: “Yandex.Maps” service releases aerial panoramas of St. Petersburg and its suburbs

“Yandex” has released aerial panoramic views of St. Petersburg and its neighboring towns.

The shots were made at a height of several hundred meters on board the helicopter and the airship. In total “Yandex.Maps” service has added panoramic views of 165 sites of St. Petersburg, Peterhof, Gatchina, Pavlovsk, Pushkin and Schlisselburg. On the map they are tagged with balloon icons.

Fifteen most beautiful panoramas according to “Yandex” were rolled out in high resolution. When printed such images reach the size 30x90 cm, the company’s blog reads.

Besides, one page describes the way “Yandex” makes “ground based” and “aerial” panoramas.

“Yandex.Maps” service was launched in 2004. As for present the service offers “ground based” panoramic views of tens of cities of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine.
