IT and Mass Media: The Wall Street Journal now in German

American business newspaper The Wall Street Journal has launched a project in German. The Wall Street Journal Deutschland website was rolled out on January 10th, the address to readers of Knut Engelmann - portal’s chief editor – reads. The German-language counterpart of Wall Street Journal was announced on October 19th 2011.

The new website will become the first business newspaper in German-speaking countries to be published solely on Internet with no printed counterpart available. Some of the website’s articles will be accessible only to subscribers and some will remain in the open access.

The new edition employs more than 2 000 WSJ’s correspondents all over the world. According to the chief editor, the German version of the newspaper will not limit itself to keeping readers up-to-date with the economy of Germany. Engelmann is convinced that German business press lacks reviews of events in Washington, London, Tokyo and other business centers. Therefore the newspaper will turn the spotlight on events essential for the world economy.
