Electronic resources: “Electronic Library” portal to be launched in Azerbaijan

In Azerbaijan, under the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism there is being created the "Electronic Library" portal.

The "E-Library" portal will be a resource that provides complete information about the requested edition. An easy search and navigation system will instantly provide you with the address of the nearest library, where you can get one or the other issue.

The system will be managed through a centralized control panel of the portal. A module integrated to the library and information system of the Akhundov Azerbaijan National Library will be introduced into the panel. The portal users will be able to use such options as an electronic catalog, registration, delivery of books and reporting.

The system of the "E-Library" contains the "Local Library" module, which is a separate system that can operate in free running mode, and allows you to connect to the portal the libraries not previously computerized.

The online-reservation of books system enables to increase the speed of users servicing. After registering and creating a personal profile on the website, anyone is able to book a publication, then, one is given a code to get the right book at the library.

For each new library that joins the system, the portal provides an additional sub-domain, and the possibility to create a single site, through which it becomes possible to access the electronic catalog of a certain library.

Azerbaijan libraries have extensive holdings, constantly enriched with belletristic and specialized literature. Often, however, citizens are facing difficulties in finding a library that disposes of a particular publication.

To address these problems and to maximize ease of access of citizens to information sources, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan has decided to create an information portal that allows you to quickly get the most complete information about the relevant publications.
