Regions of Russia: Grand Opening of the Year of Russian History and the Year of Historical & Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan in Kazan

February 20, 2012 at the Kazan State University of Culture and Arts (KazGUKI) is held the opening ceremony of the Year of Russian History, declared by the Decree of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and the Year of Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Tatarstan, declared by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, R. N. Minnikhanov in order to attract public attention to issues of preservation and development of historical and cultural traditions, cultures and languages of the representatives of the peoples living in the territory of the Republic of Tatarstan, assistance in reconstruction, restoration and promotion of cultural heritage.

This event is one of the first in a series of events under the International Humanitarian Forum "Back to Sources, Turning to the Roots", held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan during the year of 2012.

The event will include a presentation of research and innovation project "KazGUKI - 2012: Search for Answers to the Challenges of Our Time", speeches of officials and a cultural program.
