Russian culture abroad: Unique display of the House of Fabergé’s treasures in Riga

The Art Museum “Riga Bourse” (Riga, Latvia) has staged a unique exhibition of the famous jewelry House of Fabergé. On display are works from museum collections of Russia and Latvia, and exhibits from private collections.

The project is a part of the cooperation program of Ministries of Culture of Latvia and Russia for 2010-2012.

This is the first time Riga has brought together treasures of the House of Fabergé from the State Historical Museum, the All-Russian Decorative-Applied and Folk Art Museum, Fersman Mineralogical Museum (Moscow), the Latvian National Museum of Art and several Russian private collections.

Exhibits include early works of Gustav Fabergé’s jewellery manufactory and his son’s Peter Carl Fabergé jewellery, which are samples of highest mastery of this industry. Several works are created by master Mikhail Perkhin.

The exhibition will run till May 29, and after the display in Riga it will return to Moscow.
