Society and book culture: Children’s and Youth’s Book Week in Pskov

From March 22 to April 2, 2012 the libraries of Pskov Region are celebrating one of the major holidays of the year for young readers - Children's and Youth’s Book Week.

The V. A. Kaverin Regional Library for Children and Youth of Pskov implements the "Regional Capital” project as a part of the Children's and Youth’s Book Week. Annually on a competitive basis a town or a district center selected for hosting the most interesting and important events of the Week.

The Week starts on March 22 in the town of Ostrov, which has been declared this year the regional capital of the All-Russian Children's and Youth’s Book Week. Then the events for different age groups will be held in the V. A. Kaverin Regional Library for Children and Youth of Pskov.

The Week will open with a great holiday called "Long Live the Reader," at which there will be presented "A book That Does Not End" exhibition. A solemn ceremony will sum up the results of the "Library. Book. Me." competition.

For librarians and teachers the Ostrov Central District Children's Library is organizing a round table on "Interaction of libraries and educational institutions under the new federal education standards."

In addition, various events will be held in libraries and schools of Ostrov. The program of the Week includes meetings between readers and books, dialogues and discussions, film screenings.

The V. A. Kaverin Regional Library for Children and Youth of Pskov will hold a series of events where readers could see their favorite books, take part in quizzes and competitions.
