20 March 2012

On March 20th 2012 the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War on Poklonnaya Hill (Moscow) is opening a new exhibition of the Russian-German Museum “Berlin-Karlshorst” called “June 1941: The Deepest Cut”.

“June 1941: The Deepest Cut” is devoted to outstanding bravery and valor displayed by soldiers during the first days of the war. The exhibit was created by the German-Russian Museum “Berlin-Karlshorst” ten years ago and was presented there first in 2001. Still, it has not lost any of its topicality. The exhibition showcases photographs and first-hand accounts of witnesses of war atrocities. Thus it unfolds the whole spectrum of different fates on the German and the Soviet side.

Along with materials, provided by the German party, featuring unique photographs from German and Soviet archives, the show displays priceless exhibits from the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War’s collections.

Visitors can also discover books, booklets, posters of the initial period of the war. Some of them have never gone on display before.

Since June 2011 the Russian-German Museum “Berlin Karlshorst” has been showing “June 1941: The Deepest Cut” exhibition in Germany, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and other countries of Europe.
