18 March 2012

From 16 March to 20 May the Pushkin State Museum Reserve "Mikhailovskoye" presents an exhibition of paintings from the museum's collection, "The shelter of a free poet."

The exhibition, which represents only a small part of the picturesque museum's collection, has been prepared for the 90th anniversary of creation of the Pushkin Preserve. The works it is featuring enable us to see the beauty of the land that had once given shelter to the disgraced genius and has been serving for several decades as a source of inspiration for various writers, poets and artists.

The works were selected in a way to give the visitor at least a brief idea of the main components of the Pushkin Reserve: Mikhailovskoye Trigorskoye, Petrovskoye and Svyatogorsky Monastery, where the ashes of the poet lie. And, of course, the way the artists change their view of Alexander Pushkin.

The selection of names featured at the exhibition, has been dictated by the degree of their fame and / or a special closeness to the life of the museum, their commitment to Pushkin topic.
