History of Russia: “Made in USSR” Exhibition Project Presentation in Stavropol
The year of 2012 is declared the Year of Russian history. During the year the Stavropol Krai Museum of Fine Arts will organized and hold exhibitions and events related to the history of Russia, which primarily aim at the display of unknown and little-known museum collections that make up an important part of the cultural heritage of Russia. Such is the collection of paintings by the artists of the former socialist countries that had been part of the Soviet Union for 70 years.
March 15, 2012 took place the presentation of the project "Made in USSR", featuring about two hundred works from the museum's collection never demonstrated before, which allow visitors to immerse themselves in history and life of our country's recent past - the time of the Soviet Union, part of which was Russia too. It will happen thanks to the works of 76 authors from the former Soviet Baltic republics, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, which they created in 1960s -1980s.
The range of subjects of the works is typical of the period of the Soviet era - they address themes of history, war and peace, labor, sports, youth, travel impressions of artists, as well as the traditional landscape and still life.
There also are beautifully executed works of applied art, characterized by high skill and variety in the choice of techniques and materials.
Features of the museum's collection enable not only understand the historical destiny of the peoples of the former Soviet Union, but also to trace the trends shaping the academic school of fine arts in such a complex, diverse and vast state what represented the Soviet Union.
