
Presidential Library: Recent Acquisitions
The Presidential Library’s collection now features educational and culturological video materials, produced by the library.
“Knowledge about Russia” video lecture series of the Presidential Library kicked off on November 17th 2011 as a part of Mikhail Lomonosov’s 300th birth anniversary celebrations. The project aims to address memorable dates in the Russian history and general issues related to the Russian statehood. The key purpose of video lectures is to promote the cultural and spiritual development of the youth, generate interest in deeper study of the Fatherland’s history. First three lectures, delivered in the Presidential Library’s multimedia hall, were broadcasted on the Internet, and are now available as recordings.
Video lecture series are opened by Nikolai Kazansky, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Linguistics, Russian Academy of Sciences, who gave a lecture entitled Lomonosov as a reformer of Russian language.
Lomonosov – our contemporary lecture delivered by Tatyana Butorina, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor, Director of Lomonosov Institute of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (Arkhangelsk), tells about the reasons why in 18th century such a remarkable figure as Lomonosov appeared in the Russian North, and the significance of his academic heritage nowadays.
Lomonosov as a statesman and public figure is addressed by the lecture of David Ruskin, Doctor of History, Professor of St. Petersburg State University, Head of the Academic Publications Division of the Russian State Historical Archive.
“Art and Reality” First International Forum, November 25th-27th 2011, Presidential Library, which was initiated by Pyotr Konchalovsky Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, brought together leading art-journalists, art historians and art critics from all over the world. The forum focused on the relation between art criticism and modern art.
Users can now discover video recordings of several speeches.
