On March 12th 2012 the Rare Book Museum at N. M. Yadrintsev Central City Library in Barnaul is running a traditional holiday of Russian book “The light of truth – it’s in the lines of ancient books”.

This is the third event which turns the spotlight on the rarities of Russian publishing which is organized by Yadrintsev Central City Library in partnership with the History of Orthodoxy Museum of Barnaul Diocese. Each year the presentation of rare old editions of religious literature from the library of Barnaul Theological Seminary and the History of Orthodoxy Museum in Altai takes place in spring as it celebrates the anniversary of the first Russian printed book “Apostle”, which was published by the Russian printing pioneer Ivan Feodorov on March 1st 1564 (March 14th by the New Style).

“People of 21st century should remember well the date of birth of the Russian book printing. At least because for a long period of time not proper importance was attached to it”, the holiday’s organizers say.
