History of St. Petersburg: Andrei Vetrogonsky’s personal exhibition runs in Sts Peter and Paul Fortress

5 March 2012

Andrei Vetrogonsky’s personal exhibition entitled “The Turn” is opening on March 5th 2012 at Sts Peter and Paul Fortress (St. Petersburg).

The exhibit showcases latest paintings and drawings by St. Petersburg artist Andrei Vetrogonsky: St. Petersburg landscapes, portraits and still life.

The name of A. Vetrogonsky’s personal show underway at Sts Peter and Paul Fortress is chosen not by accident. It symbolizes a new turn in the artist’s oeuvre. Works dated between 2010-2012 on display like his earlier works show the artist’s favorite topics: Petrogradskaya Storona, embankments of Moika and Karpovka Rivers, the Field of Mars, Palace Square, Kazan Cathedral and the Church of the Savior on Blood, however they are more dynamic, contrasting. With interest and attention does the artist reflect changes which happen in the city environment. It may be the change of day and night, different seasons, change of the weather or other changes related to the life of St. Petersburg and its residents.

The exposition features artist’s recent portraits and still life.
