Presidential Library: Recent Acquisitions
The Presidential Library’s holdings have been enriched by digitized works of contemporary authors, who had provided their works on genealogy, ethno-history and the history of the Soviet Navy to be released on the Presidential Library’s portal.
Nikolai Mikhailovich Ivanov
A book entitled History of Rus’ through names and dates (St. Petersburg, 1998) features diagrams and tables which show the genealogical tree of princely families, which were descended from Rurik, grand dukes and tsars from Rurik to the first Russian Tsar from the Romanov Dynasty — Mikhail Feodorovich, Rurik’s descendents, who were canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church, and, besides, a diagram of kinship ties between the first Piast dynasty (Poland) and the Rurik dynasty and a table of kinship ties between the Rurik dynasty and the ruling dynasties of different countries.
Those who take an interest in the historical past of Ancient Russia and Lithuania and Russo-Lithuanian relations between 11th-16th cc. may discover a reference edition “History of the Lithuanian-Russian state through names and dates (The Gediminids)”. Books 1, 2 (St. Petersburg, 2003), which reveals the origin of the Gediminids, kinship ties of historical personalities and families. At the end of the edition there is a list of major events in the Lithuanian and Lithuanian-Russian history between 11th-16th cc.
Descendants of Ratsha (St. Petersburg, 2005) book brings together the material devoted to descendants of a half-legendary Ratsha, the forefather of many noble families in Russia. The edition is accompanied by a vocabulary of outdated and little-used words, ranks, positions in the Moscow state and the Russian Empire.
The service in navy and the study in the Frunze Higher Naval School from 1959 to 1965 is described in a book Through hardships to “small stars” (St. Petersburg, 2009). The life of sailors and students is presented through the lens of events of political, cultural and sport life of the Soviet Union.
The Russian kaleidoscope of Yugoslavs (St. Petersburg, 2011) unites materials on study and service of Yugoslavs in navy — graduates of Higher Naval Schools of Leningrad and Riga Red Banner School of Coast Guard, as well as the chronicle of particular events in Yugoslav history and Soviet-Yugoslav relations.
Yuri Serafimovich Rozadorsky
The historical-genealogical essays entitled Serving to Fatherland (St. Petersburg, 2008) and We keep the traditions of valor (St. Petersburg, 2009) contain brief biographical information on relatives and relations by marriage of the Kopytovs — Rozadorskys — Favorskys genealogical tree and its branches: the Koshkin, the Svetlakov, the Popov, the Krinitsyn, the Tarasov, the Padorin, the Baidokov, the Butakov families.
Vladimir Eduardovich Erger
A book Brothers-Monarchs (St. Petersburg, 2002) casts light on the origin of monarchies and ruling dynasties in the European countries. Each chapter features a brief description of the history of a state, information on the origin of the nation and origin of monarchy, chronology of monarchs and a short genealogical table of ruling dynasties. The book contains a synchronous table of European rulers.
Fallen leaves edition (Gelsenkirchen, 2008) based on archival data and papers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stories of kith and kin and friends, as well as author’s personal recollections, shows the tragic life of two million ethnic Germans in the Soviet Union in 20th c.
The collected stories Not to disappear! (Gelsenkirchen, 2010) tells about the life of Russian Germans in Germany, their feelings and attitudes.
In a book Blow to “Storozhevoy” (Gelsenkirchen, 2010) the author reveals his standpoint on extraordinary events which took place in November 1975 on board a large anti-submarine ship “Storozhevoy” of the Baltic Fleet.
