Memory of Russia: A traveling exhibition “Moscow is behind us!” in Kaliningrad region
A traveling exhibition “Sacred words: “Moscow is behind us!”” opened in Kaliningrad a series of events dedicated to 200th anniversary of the Victory of Russia in the Patriotic War of 1812. The exhibition features unique materials from the funds of the Kaliningrad Regional History and Art Museum, the Secret State Archive of the Prussian cultural Heritage (Berlin), Internet-project “1812”. The exhibition tells us about the most striking events of the Napoleon wars – the periods of 1807 and 1812, the foreign campaign of the Russian Army to the East Prussia in 1813, the creation of the Prussian Landwehr (militia). The battles of Eylau and Fried land of 1807 are shown in particular detail as well as the legendary Battle of Borodino of 1812, the Peace of Tilsit of 1807 and the Convention of Tauroggen of 1812.
At the exhibition prepared by the staff of the Kaliningrad Historical-art Museum, you can see rare archival documents, including maps, plans of battles, engravings, lithographs; copies of picturesque canvas – portraits and battle scenes, to get acquainted with the materials from the “Journal of hostilities” from December 1812 to January 1813, submitted by the commander of the armies of General-Field Marshal Prince Kutuzov-Smolensky to the Emperor Alexander I, “Manifesto of the Prussian King on a set of militias” of 1813 and the memories of the contemporaries of Napoleonic wars telling us of the exploits of the Russian Army.
During the year the residents of the Kaliningrad region will have opportunity to see a traveling jubilee exhibition “Sacred words: “Moscow is behind us!”” in the municipal museums, libraries, cultural centers and educational institutions. May, 2012 the exhibition will be on display in the Central City Library of Baltiysk, at the Bagrationovsky Museum of local History and at the culture center of Svetly City.
