Russian libraries: “BIBLIONIGHT” first annual social & cultural action

On the night of 20 to 21 April, 2012 in Russia will be held the "Biblionight", a large network event of the national level organized in support to the social authority of literature as a historical national project of Russia.

The official participants (sites) of the "BIBLIONIGHT" are libraries, museums, galleries, publishers, literary societies, clubs, bookstores. The only condition for participation: organizing at the scheduled time on their site of a cultural (socio-cultural and other) program open to all who want to visit it.

The action is attended by over 750 organizations of Russia. In Moscow and Tula, St. Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod, Petrozavodsk and Perm, Tver and Volgograd, Astrakhan, Togliatti, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, from Kaliningrad to Nakhodka and Komsomolsk-on-Amur, almost in all Russian cities, hundreds of libraries, museums, galleries, cultural centers and bookstores that night will open their doors to visitors and organize cultural programs in the streets with participation of writers, musicians, artists, actors. Besides, exhibitions and special projects will be held.
