Exhibitions: “3D images” opened in Stavropol

1 April 2012

28 March 2012 the Stavropol State Museum-Preserve opened an exhibition of 3D images (holograms).

Holography is one of the most rapidly developing and promising areas of modern science. Having been born a little over half a century ago, holography has now become an integral part of many spheres of daily life and economy. Holography provides enormous possibilities in the field of reconstruction of three-dimensional images. Artistic holography is the new millennium art, the work at the intersection of art, psychology, and physics.

"This exhibition is one of the few holographic exhibitions in Russia, it has existed for 10 years, during which it has been visited by residents of Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Kirov and other major cities, - says its organizer, Nikolai Trutnev. - During the last year the exhibition was on the restoration and will now be presented in a new light."

Three-dimensional images amaze spectators with the realism and accuracy, comprehensive reproduction of reality by means of light and use of the laws of optics. The peculiarity of artistic holography is that these images need to be seen with one’s own eyes - neither a photo, no a video can convey a striking sense of presence that they have on the viewer.
