Libraries of Russia: “Rare materials. Unique editions from the Polytechnic Library collection and their characters” exhibition in Moscow

May 25, 2012 in Moscow, the Polytechnic Museum opened the exhibition "Rare Materials. Unique Editions from the Polytechnic Library collection and their characters." It features the titles from the collection of rare and valuable editions, and the main holdings of the Polytechnic Library.

The exposition is highlighting 21 books of the three and a half million titles, making today one of the largest collections of scientific and technical books in Russia.

Thus, the exhibition is featuring the first textbook in arithmetic, known as "Magnitsky Arithmetic " of 1703, a rare folio with drawings and photographs of the construction of the Eiffel Tower (autographed by Gustave Eiffel), textbooks in physics of the 18th – 19th centuries ("Wolfianae experimental physics", translated by Lomonosov in 1746, and the "Physics" published by Ivan Dvigubsky in 1814).
