History of Russia: Exhibition “20 years of the Soviet power” is dedicated to 75th anniversary of The International Exposition in Paris in 1937, take place in Moscow
From May 25 till July 29, 2012, an exhibition “20 years of the Soviet power” is dedicated to 75th anniversary of The Exposition Internationale des Arts et Techniques dans la Vie Moderne (International Exposition “Art and Technology in Modern Life”) which was held in Paris in 1937, take place in Moscow. The purpose of USSR participation in the World’s fair was to show achievements of the Soviet Union during 20 years (from 1917 till 1937) and demonstrate advances of socialistic regime.
The Soviet pavilion and sculptural composition "Rabochiy i kolkhoznitsa" appeared due to collaboration of architect Boris Iofan and sculptor Vera Mukhina. The pavilion of the USSR was a great success, and it was awarded 270 prizes including grand prize and golden medal the World’s Fair.
The exhibition “20 years of the Soviet power” reflects different dimensions of the Soviet pavilion in Paris: ideology, industrial, scientific, educational and cultural achievements.
