Society and science: The 12th International Scientific Likhachev Readings in St. Petersburg

17-18 May 2012, St. Petersburg University of Humanities and Social Sciences is holding the 12th International Scientific Likhachev Readings.

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his greeting to the guests and participants of the event. The readings are attended by more than 1,500 Russian and foreign scientists, experts, politicians, cultural figures, members of NGOs and the media community.

The theme of the plenary session is "Dialogue of Cultures in a Globalizing World." Also as part of the readings there are meetings in the following subgroups:

- "Multiculturalism as an issue of public policy and international relations."

- "National unity and cultural diversity."

- "Ethno-cultural and socio-labor conflicts in the CIS countries: analysis, forecast, control."

- "Economics and law in the context of world cultural development."

- "National literatures in the historic dialogue of cultures."

- "Journalism and dialogue of cultures."

- "Education and dialogue of cultures."
