Information and society: World Day of Telecommunications and Information Society celebrated

May 17 is the World Day of Telecommunications and Information Society. May 17, 1865 in Paris was signed the first international Agreement, and the International Telegraph Union was created, renamed in 1932 into the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). By decision of the Governing Body of the International Telecommunication Union, the feast was celebrated as "International Day of Telecommunications" in the period from 1969 to 2005. In 2006 the holiday was called the World Information Society Day.

In addition, 21 years ago - May 17, 1991 - was presented the first Internet server, and the standard for WWW pages was approved.
