
Marking the 67th anniversary of the Great Victory: “Eternal Flames” of North-Western cities united into the “single cup of military glory”
From 4 to 7 May 2012, the hero cities and towns of military glory of the North-West (Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Novgorod, Pskov, Velikie Luki, Luga, Vyborg, Tikhvin, Kronstadt, Kolpino, Lomonosov) held the ceremony of transfer of "eternal flames ". The event brought together veterans, youth, leadership of the region and military units.
During the meetings the torches were lit from the "eternal flame" at the memorials of military glory, and then they were transferred to the ceremonial escort for the transportation and delivery of the city of St. Petersburg.
"The eternal flames" were brought to St. Petersburg in oil lamps and placed for temporary storage in the Military-Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineer and Signal Corps.
May 8, at the Peter and Paul Fortress Cathedral Square, took place the ceremony of reuniting the "eternal flames" in “The Single Cup of Military Glory."
May 9 "The Single Cup of Military Glory" with the reunited "eternal fire" will proceed on a military convoy car in front of veterans during the traditional movement along Nevsky Prospekt, and then delivered to the Piskaryovskoye cemetery.
