Information technology and history: Digital database on the Fatherland defenders perished in the territory of the Republic of Karelia in 1941-1944 created

April 27, 2012, within the Republican campaign "Memory Watch 2012", the Ministry of Youth, Physical Education, Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Karelia held a presentation of an electronic Database on the defenders of the Fatherland, who died in the territory of the Republic of Karelia in 1941-1944.

The database was created on the initiative of the Great Patriotic War veterans. It includes all categories of victims: the warriors of the Karelian and the Northern Fronts (in the area of the present administrative borders of the Republic of Karelia), including the Air Force, units of the troops of the Interior, the Marine Corps, as well as sappers, soldiers of assault battalions and the national militia, partisans and underground fighters.

The database contains the names, family names and patronymics of servicemen, their military rank and position, date and place of birth, place of residence of family members at the time of conscription, military commissariats from which they had been called, the place of service (last in retirement), the cause of departure, date and place of departure (including the missing ones), burial (reburial), archival code. Each personality contains all the available materials. To date, the Database includes 19 886 supporting documents - archival material, photographs of items found by searchers (inserts in the medallions, medals, personal belongings).
