Book publishing and distribution: Russia to be a guest of honor at the New York Book Fair

A large-scale review of contemporary Russian literature will be held at the Book Expo America, from 4 to 7 June, 2012 in New York. For the first time Russia will be the guest of honor at the exhibition, said the Deputy Head of Rospechat, Vladimir Grigoriev, at a press conference in Moscow.

He noted that Russia's participation in Book Expo America is an important step in promoting contemporary Russian literature abroad. "One of our goals - access to the Anglo-Saxon market, said Vladimir Grigoriev. - First of all, the United States, Canada, England, Australia. "The Russian delegation includes about 25 national authors, most of which are published abroad. Not only writers, but also editors, publishers, booksellers and librarians are expected come to the United States from Russia.

According to Vladimir Grigoriev, the Russian stand will hold a presentation of digital archive of Alexander Solzhenitsyn and the opening of an exhibition devoted to children's book illustration in Russia. Expert discussions on the protection of copyright, the issues of e-books’ distribution and structure, the role of reading and libraries in the formation of civil society are also planned. There will be historical and philosophical debates with the participation of prominent scientists and typographic business’ figures.
