19 June 2012

In the near future the capital libraries (40 in Moscow) will get the largest in 5 years supply of computer equipment. This information was reported by the representative of the Department of information technology, Elena Novikova. The new equipment will allow libraries to more efficiently digitize their archives. Besides, all district libraries will be able to provide the service of the electronic delivery of books.

It was purchased more than 1,100 system blocks, about 1, 500 monitors, 100 laptops, several tens of scanners and software licenses.

We are talking about rare books, which have already moved into the category of public domain, it's been more than 70 years after the death of the author. Modern editions will not be the subject of electronic access.

Deliveries of new equipment will be able to expand the computer classes with a free Internet, which are popular among pupils and students.

It was also noted that the server was necessary for storing library tickets’ data and electronic catalogs.
