Exhibitions: “St. Petersburg Secrets” exposition of “Naryshkin family treasure” in the Konstantin Palace
"Secrets of St. Petersburg" exposition of the “Naryshkin family treasure" is the name of the exhibition opening June 4, 2012 at the Konstantin Palace. The exhibition features the most valuable items from the "Treasure of the Century" discovered March 27, 2012 during the renovation of the Naryshkin mansion in St. Petersburg.
The treasure, which has so much talked and written about, is now open to visitors. Already June 5, 2012 at the Konstantin Palace will open a new guided route which would be followed by about five tours a day.
The uniqueness of this treasure is undeniable - it includes more than 2,000 items of silver, made in the 19th - early 20th century by the best jewelers of well- known Russian and European firms. Among the 55 treasures found in St. Petersburg over the past 200 years, the treasure of Naryshkins-Somovs, perhaps, is the largest. Its items – a table and tea sets, chandeliers, decorative products and crafts, jewelry of gold, silver and precious stones, as well as awards and decorations - all is well preserved, and cookware sets are almost fully complete. The exhibition will reveal a part of the sensational discoveries - about 340 rare objects that are exhibited in the same form as they were found.
