Information technologies abroad: Germany launched the most powerful supercomputer SuperMUC in Europe
The Leibnitz German Supercomputer Center at the Bavarian Academy of Sciences celebrated its 50th anniversary and presented the new supercomputer SuperMUC, which is the fourth most powerful computer in the world and the most powerful PC processor-based x86. The supercomputer was created by IBM, and it works under the operating system SUSE Linux Enterprise Server. The SuperMUC also became the fastest supercomputer in Europe.
The statement of SUSE developers says that the machine has a unique cooling system, similar to the circulatory system in humans. Thank to this system, the computer has low power consumption. The second highlight of the machine is the collection system of the heat which is then used to heat water in the university campus.
Also, the statement says that the car has 155,000 processing cores that can deliver the performance of 3 petaflops per second. The amount of computer memory is 324 terabytes.
