Memorable dates of Russia: “Military glory of Russia” Exhibition timed to the 200th anniversary of victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 held in Irkutsk

July 26, 2012 the Trubetskoy House-Museum in Irkutsk opens a traveling exhibition, "The military glory of Russia", devoted to the 200th anniversary of victory in the Patriotic war of 1812.

"The military glory of Russia" will give visitors the opportunity to see the materials on the Patriotic War of 1812: causes, chronology of events, the most significant battles, famous generals. Special attention is paid to the contribution to the victory of Irkutsk citizens. Then, in the Irkutsk Province were collected donations for the war effort. In addition, Irkutsk citizens took part in the hottest battles. Among the participants of the war were also many Decembrists. In Irkutsk lived in exile the war heroes, Princes S. G. Volkonsky and S. P. Trubetskoy, the daughter of legendary General N. Rajewski – M. N. Volkonskaia.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a collection of engravings of the 19th century on "The War of 1812" from the funds of the Irkutsk Museum of the Decembrists.
