Construction of the 1812 War Museum in Moscow, which is created on the basis of the State Historical Museum, is completed, and the exhibition is being mounted in its halls, said Deputy Minister of Culture, Andrei Busygin.

The new museum, scheduled to open in late summer - early autumn, is located in the inner courtyard of the former City Council, better known as Lenin Museum and is a two-tiered pavilion with a transparent roof.

Andrei Busygin reminded that this project was supposed to be implemented a hundred years ago, to the centennial of Russia's victory in the war of 1812, but the First World War and the Revolution of 1917 impeded it.

"100 years later than planned, the museum will be finally opened as a branch of the State Historical Museum (SHM). It was its holdings where was held everything that was collected in 1912," said Busygin.

According to the State Historical Museum Director, Alexei Levykin, the basis of the exposition will be those items that were accumulated in the collections of the Historical Museum after an extensive exhibition, held in the capital to mark the centenary of the Patriotic War of 1812.
