R01registrar of domain names, which belongs to a group of companies Hosting Community, has launched a free service WhoisHistory, allowing to obtain data on the use of the domain name and its administrators from the moment of registration, says the report of R01 representatives.

The new service, available at whoishistory.ru, will provide you information about who previously owned the domain name, how long it has been registered, which resources it is used for. It is also possible to search for other options - for example, the date of termination of the registration or release of the domain name.

This service supports WhoisHistory and IPHistory of R01 and Ru-Center registrars, also owned by Hosting Community, which provide information on data changes on the domain and DNS-records obtained from public sources.

At the first stage the service will operate only with domains in .ru, .su and .rf. Later, however, as stated by the R01 representatives, it will be available for general top-level domains like .com, .net, .org and others.

WhoisHistory Service is available to customers free of charge, but to get the extended information about the domain, you need to register in Nicid.ru system. Registered users can obtain information on legal entities, which owned the domain, and see their email addresses. Personal data of individuals are not available.

A similar service that allows you to learn the history of the domain of the Russian zone is provided by another registrar - Reg.Ru. However, this service is chargeable.
