Information technology and power: Work priorities of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media are identified

Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, Nikolay Nikiforov, in the course of the press-conference, held on July 11, 2012, outlined the key priorities of the work of the Ministry of Mass Communications and Mass Media and presented three newly appointed deputies.

According to Nikolay Nikiforov, the first priority is to eliminate the digital divide across the country. The register of the settlement, where citizens do not have access to modern communication services, will be established for this purpose.

The second priority has been called the introduction of electronic governmental and municipal services. The minister recalled that starting July 1, state agencies were no longer entitled to demand from the citizens the documents and information located in other departments.

The third priority, according to Nikolai Nikiforov, is directly the e-government, improving the efficiency of government agencies, including the coordination of expenditures for information.

Another important priority according the Minister is the development of the IT industry as a whole.
