Peoples of Russia: Exhibitions, dedicated to the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the unification of the Mordovian and Russian peoples, in Saransk

August 23, in the framework of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the unification of the Mordovian and Russian people two exhibitions were opened in the S. Erzya Mordovian Museum of Fine Arts exhibitions: an exhibition "Mordovian Treasures from the Museums of Russia" and the Russian exhibition "Russia - my Motherland!"

A large-scale joint exhibition project "Mordovian Treasures from the Museums of Russia" is timed to the two significant events - the 1000th anniversary of the unification of the Mordovian and Russian people and the 190th anniversary of the birth of portraiture, one of the founders of Mordovia professional art Ivan Kuzmich Makarov – a talented Russian master, one of the best portrait painters of the second half in Saint-Petersburg of the nineteenth century, a native of the city of Saransk. Totally, 14 museums of the Russian Federation took part in realization of the large-scale project.

Russian art exhibition "Russia - My Motherland" is held in the framework of the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the unification of Mordovian and Russian peoples and it is designed to fully reflect the idea of tolerance, mutual understanding and respect of the Finno-Ugric, Slavic, Turkic and other peoples of our multinational country. The exhibition involves compatriots in the actual dialogue of cultures for a deeper comprehension of the peoples of their own identity, originality, uniqueness of the cultures of other ethnic groups, which further strengthen the agreement and understanding between the peoples of the multinational United Russia.

Artists of thirty regions of Russia have presented their best paintings, graphics, sculptures and works of decorative and folk art recently.
