IT and society: Provision on the Presidential Directorate for Application of Information Technology and the Development of E-Democracy signed

The President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed Executive Order on Approving the Provision on the Presidential Directorate for Application of Information Technology and the Development of E-Democracy.

The executive order defines the Directorate’s main objectives and functions, in particular in the field of information technology application in state administration, e-government infrastructure development, organisation of interdepartmental cooperation, cross-border electronic interaction, the legal status of electronic documents, the creation and development of government information resources on the basis of cloud computing, the application of information technology to ensure people’s safety in the information and communication networks.

The Directorate’s functions also include the analysis and application of e-democracy technology in Russia and the world, monitoring and analysis of modern network technology and information resources, as well as the protection of intellectual property and the creation and implementation of new models of media consumption.
