The Presidential Library mourns for Sergei Kapitsa

On August 14, 2012 passed away Sergei Krapitsa – a scientist, educator, TV broadcaster, and person of encyclopedic learning. He was called one of the most intelligent people in the world.

The talent of Kapitsa equally found its application in the scientific, social, political, editorial and publishing and educational fields. He created a TV show "Evident, but Incredible" which was the striking phenomenon of the Russian culture, as well as the magazine "In the world of science", which he directed for many years as an editor, received a well-deserved recognition not only in Russia but also abroad.

Sergei Petrovich has showed a lively interest to the formation of the Presidential Library, he was an honorary reader. A festival of documentary film "The World of Knowledge" was held under his chairmanship.

The death of Sergei Petrovich Kapitsa is a big loss for us, the entire scientific and cultural community. The bright memory of him will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him and who worked with him.
