Memory of Russia: Inter-regional Military and Historical festival “Battle on the Vozha River-2012” in the Ryazan region

Inter-regional Military and historical festival “Battle on the River Vozha-2012” takes part in the village Glebovo-Gord of the Rybnovsky District of the Ryazan region from August 9-12, 2012.

The battle between the Russian army under the command of Dmitry Donskoy and the army of the Golden Horde, which was held on August 11, 1378, became the first major victory of the armies of the North-Eastern Russia.

The tenth Festival "Battle of the River Vozha" in the Ryazan region is timed to the 634th anniversary of the battle, this year it gathered about 300 participants - members of the military-historical clubs from all Russia and the neighboring countries.

The festival takes place during four days, during which representatives of the clubs are involved in contests of the reconstruction of historical costume and armor, historical fencing tournaments, fairs, commemorative events "Trizna," "historic all-around competitions", "bugurt", folk games. The highlight of the festival will be the day of the feast in honor of the victory on the River Vozha, with the obligatory staged medieval battles involving infantry and cavalry troops.

The festival also hosts an exhibition from the collections of the Ryazan Museum Reserve: the audience is represented by an archaeological exposition, created on the basis of the find detected during investigations in the Glebovo-Gord.
