History of Russia: Exhibition dedicated to the underground movement in the Orel Oblast is open

An exhibition “The Chronicle of a Feat” opened on the eve of the Liberation Day from the Nazis in the Orel Central Naval Museum. It is dedicated to the underground movement in the Orel Oblast and to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the writer-historian and former veteran of security organs Matthew Martynov.

The exposition includes archival documents, which tell about the activities of the underground movement, many documents from the personal archive of Martynov, personal things of members of an underground.

"The uniqueness of this exhibition is that the issue of occupation of Orel after the war has been closed to the study, - said the head of museum Sergei Shirokov. - A silent decision was taken that the underground groups in Oryol allegedly did not exist. Matthew Martynov, in fact, made ​​a pioneering feat. He was the first of Orel researchers who proved that the underground was hiding in Orel, it fought".

The exhibition will run till the beginning of September.
