6 August 2012

In the near future audiences in Russia and the US will see a series of films about the Russian America. Their authors spoke about this at the presentation which was held at the Washington representative office Rossotrudnichestvo.

The presentation was timed to the 200th anniversary of the Russian settlement of Fort Ross in California, which is widely celebrated this year. Actually, all film and TV projects are also associated with this date. In particular, the Producer General of the documentary film "Russian America" Valery Burtashov reported that the premiere would be held at the end of the year on the TVC TV channel.

"We shot an 8-series film, which will talk about how the Russians learned the American territory", - said Burtashov. It will be, of course, about researchers in Alaska and other US territories.

The former Russian settlement and fortress of Fort Ross currently has the status of California Historic Park and National Historic Landmark. From 1808 to 1812 years, the fortress was named Count Nikolai Rumyantsev, and on August 13, 1812 officially got its current name of Fort Ross.
