Information technology and society: Mozilla launches technology of remote identification of Persona

28 September 2012

Mozilla opens an open beta-testing of its new development – the online system of Persona identification, which had previously been presented as an experimental development Mozilla Labs.

As told in Mozilla, the technology Persona offers a safe way out of a number of individual passwords and logins, offering to move it all to the memory of the remote server and do the authentication requests from dozens of customer services through the standard system OpenID without unnecessary “headache” for users.

Technically, the system corresponds a distributed online system to identify users. It is created as part of a general trend to transfer more user data online, and automatically use them on demand.

Initially, the technology is based on the development of Persona Browser ID, which was set up in Firefox, but, unlike the latter, Persona has its own interface and allows you to manage multiple accounts.
