History of Russia: Inter museum exhibition “Tsar’s Hope” dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of P. A. Stolypin in Saint-Petersburg

September 25, 2012 the Stable Building of Yelagin Island Palace Museum (St. Petersburg) opens inter museum exhibition “Tsar’s Hope” dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of a political statesman P. A. Stolypin.

The exhibition is the final step in a program of commemorative events, as well as the largest project dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Stolypin in St. Petersburg.

Yelagin Island is one of the few memorial addresses of P. A. Stolypina in St. Petersburg. That was here when was moved family Stolypin after frequent assassination attempts on the life of Peter Arkadievich in 1906.

The main idea of the exhibition is to tell about Pyotr Stolypin, not only as a politician and reformer, but also as a family man and a man who is a very conscientious and responsible worker for the benefit of the state and the people.

The exposition is based on materials from more than 15 archives and museum institutions of the Russian Federation. Some of the documents and exhibits are displayed for the first time: a collection of European charts, belonging to the father of P. A. Stolypin, economic documents on behalf of the family Stolypin, personal archive of newspaper articles of the wife of P. A. Stolypin – O. B. Stolypina - and other authentic archival documents and photographs.

The exhibition uses modern multimedia technology, including interactive. One of the interactive exhibits is layout of Yelagin Island, working with which you can get to know the history and understand the role which the island played in the time when P. A. Stolypin used to live with his family.
