International events: Exhibition of the International cultural project “Image of Russia” in Moscow

The Russian Academy of Arts, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Fund of Development of the Russian culture “Kraft-Pavlova” present the international project “Image of Russia” which gives the opportunity to see the process of interaction of Russian and Western cultures in a given time and geographical limits.

To participate in the project in Russia are invited sixteen famous artists from Western Europe. The aim of the European project is to familiarize participants with the Russian cultural environment, the history of the country, its art and people, and discovering of the true diversity of Russia. The main method of this acquaintance was selected a form of a fruitful creative journeys, on the results of which srtists create series of their works.

At the end of the visit there will be a competition of paintings created in Russia, which will be evaluated by a professional jury of well-known Russian and foreign specialists.

The first part of the exhibition project opens on September 25, 2012 in the halls of Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery (Moscow) with an exhibition of paintings of sixteen guest artists, which runs until 30 September 2012. Taken together, their works present are rarely for the general Moscow public the opportunity to see a "slice" of modern Western painting, which includes the most diverse directions. The second part of the exhibition program, which will present new works created under the influence of Russia and its culture will be held in the same halls from October 2 to October 7, 2012.
