History of Russia: Exhibitions to the anniversary of the Russian statehood are open in Novgorod the Great
The exhibition halls of the State Museum of Art Culture of Novgorod land in the framework of the celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the origin of the Russian statehood on September 23, 2012 will open the exhibition "Novgorod - homeland of Russia". Novgorod the Great - an ancient, post-war and new is presented in the three sections.
At the same time opens the exhibition "Russian cast icon". This is a joint project of the museum, a group of companies "GAMAS" and "cultural adaptation" Foundation (Saint-Petersburg).
The exposition introduces the viewer to the icons from a private collection, created by Russian craftsmen in the XVIII - XIX centuries. One of the major events of Russian culture is the copper plastic - crosses, icons, folding. Monuments of copper art castings make up the largest group of ecclesiastical objects that appeared in Rus since the adoption of Christianity. Initially, this type of Christian art works were imported from Byzantium, as it is evidenced by numerous archaeological finds in Kherson, Kiev and other cities in southern Rus.
Presented at the exhibition items include all the difference of the Russian copper plastic, enabling the modern audience to learn this important artistic direction of the Russian church culture.
