Russian culture abroad: Russian Book Festival in Sevastopol

18-19 September 2012, the Central City Library n. a. after Leo Tolstoy in Sevastopol, is housing the Festival of Russian Book. The event was made possible owing to a grant from the "Russkiy Mir" Foundation.

Readers can learn about the work of contemporary Russian and Russian-language writers, talk to well-known authors, who arrived to Sevastopol. But the main objective of the festival is to draw attention to the problem of development of the holdings of the Centralized Library System with new Russian publications, establish contacts between Russian writers and their Crimean colleagues.

The festival will include a round table discussion on "Russian literature in the contemporary socio-cultural environment", to consider the issues of the state and the values of Russian literature in the 21st century, the role of libraries of Sevastopol in the support and development of the Russian language and Russian culture. For adult readers and children opened a collection of publications from the series "St. Petersburg Book" and the exposure devoted to the project, "White Nights in Sevastopol."
