7 September 2012

The APEC CEO Summit will be held on Russky Island, Vladivostok on September 7-8, 2012. More than 700 chief executives of major Asia-Pacific companies are expected to take part in the event.

The APEC CEO Summit is an annual business forum for representatives of the Asia-Pacific business elite, held as a part of APEC Leaders' Week. At the Summit, business leaders have the opportunity to share their views and search for solutions in an open multilateral dialogue with government leaders.

As the APEC host economy for 2012, Russia has outlined the agenda for the APEC CEO Summit:

- trade and investment liberalization, regional economic integration;

- strengthening food security;

- establishing reliable supply chains;

- intensive cooperation to foster innovative growth.

CEO Summit sessions will concentrate on the issues that are most relevant at this stage in the evolution of APEC, including globalization, energy security and human resources as the key elements of economic development. Participants will engage in focused discussion and seek solutions to problems related to securing resources for development, as well as the problems of technologic development, the prospects for development of remote regions in APEC economies, and the issues of education and changing roles for women in the world today.

The two days of the CEO Summit will be devoted to an exchange of ideas between business and government leaders on the advantages and adverse effects of economic integration, the prospects for global and regional currencies, infrastructure development for economic growth, and the future of capitalism in general. Other sessions will include focus on the development of cities in a rapidly changing world, the emergence and role of transnational corporations, and the growth of the middle class in emerging markets.
