Memory of Russia abroad: The house-museum of Kutuzov opened in Slovakia

The opening ceremony of the architectural and park complex as well as the house-museum of Mikhail Kutuzov to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Russian victory in the Patriotic War of 1812 took place in Slovak city Rishnevets.

The opening ceremony of the museum was attended by representatives of local authorities, artists, employees of diplomatic missions accredited in Bratislava.

"Due to the leader talent and wisdom of Mikhail Kutuzov 200 years ago Russia defeated Napoleon, and Europe was liberated from Napoleon's invasion", - noted the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in Slovakia Pavel Kuznetsov, speaking at the opening ceremony of the Kutuzov house-museum.

According to the archives, M. Kutuzov stayed at Rishnevets in 1805 after the Battle of Austerlitz. Thanks to the efforts of the local administration it was able to restore the Chambers, where the Great Russian commander spent nights.

The new museum presents a collection of historical artifacts from the archives of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Moscow Museum-Panorama "Borodino".

It is also planned to accommodate a number of exhibits, among which visitors can see paintings, drawings, sculpture, antique maps, household items, coins, banners, awards, uniforms, equipment, and weapons of Russian and French armies.
