Information technology and society: Plans on development of the Russian IT industry were announced at the Russian Innovation Week

Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media of Russia Mark Shmulevich took part in the conference Russian Innovation Week, which was held from 25 to 26 October 2012 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View (California). The conference is held by the Russian Innovation Center created by three key Russian institutions for development: RUSNANO, RVC and the Fund "Skolkovo". The conference was attended by about 300 people.

In his speech, the deputy head of the Ministry of Communications told about the development of IT industry in Russia up to 2018, put forward by a team ministry, and how to achieve them.

Among the current vision of the objectives by 2018 - double the number of employees in IT, saving at least three times the growth rate of the superiority of the IT industry compared to an average growth rate of GDP, the output volume of venture investment sector at 40 billion rubles. Among other results - the growing popularity of IT disciplines, increasing overall IT literacy, facilitating environment for IT companies in the Russian jurisdiction.

According to Mark Shmulevich, to achieve these objectives will require action on four fronts. This is the work with human capital related to the development of education, promotion industry, international cooperation and the creation of conditions for an easier move to Russia IT professionals from other countries, and further improvement of infrastructure, including the development of industrial parks, the role of IT in other sectors of the economy, the development of research in promising directions of IT, the development of the legislative framework, the dialogue and the state of the IT industry, business support for IT and the creation of other institutional settings, and finally, to contribute to the output of domestic companies in the international market and the creation of R & D-centers of foreign companies in Russia.
