World culture: Exhibition “Rome – Capital of the World” in Coliseum

28 October 2012

The exhibition “Rome – Capital of the World”, which is held in Coliseum, offers a new look to the ancient history. The organizers of the exhibition tended to show not only the greatness and power of the state.

More than a hundred of artifacts, presented in the Coliseum, show the cultural and religious interaction between Rome and conquered territories, as well as the ethnic diversity of the population of the ancient city. Among the most interesting exhibits - Senate Resolution of 186 BC, and the epigram of 48 AD, that contains excerpts from the speech of Emperor Claudius. The section "Romanization" in frescoes and mosaics depicts in detail military campaigns of Roman soldiers. The exhibition runs until March 10.
