Growth rates of the Russian market of “cloud” technologies will significantly outstrip the growth in the coming years overall in IT industry in Russia. This opinion was expressed by the deputy head of the Ministry of Communications Mark Shmulevich, who oversees the direction of information technology. He took part in the contest of "Cloud 2012" for achievements in the "cloud" solutions.

M. Shmulevich admitted that "cloud" technology is one of the most promising technologies in the IT. The principle of "cloud" technologies is that all information of the user is stored on remote web servers. Computer resources and facilities are available to the user as an online service. The user has access to their own data, and does not care about the infrastructure, the operating system and software, with which he works.

"The world is moving in many directions to the "cloud" systems, Russia as well. I think that Russia will follow this trend to catch up. This is not a very long time", - said Shmulevich. He recalled that Russia has recently started to develop "cloud" technologies, practically from scratch.

The award "Clouds 2012" is established by the Russian Association of Electronic Communications, the partner is the national telecommunication company "Rostelecom". The competition, as noted by the organizers, promotes high-tech and innovative small-scale-business and medium-sized businesses in Russia and looking for new and talented IT teams and increase the investment attractiveness of the technology. The prize is awarded in several categories: the "cloud" for the business user, for science, for the State. A separate award is provided to the "cloud" of startups.
