Libraries of Russia: Interregional Scientific and Practical conference “The Public Library and Society: the ways and problems of modernization” in Tomsk

The Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference "The Public Library and Society: the ways and problems of modernization" is held on 16-18 October 2012 in the Tomsk Regional Universal Scientific Library of A. S. Pushkin.

The conference focuses on the following set of problems:

- The library in the system of priorities of modernization of society: the technocratic and humanistic scenarios of development

- The public library in the modern economy and law: federal and regional aspects

- Staff situation in libraries. The formation and development of professional competence of librarians. The professional standard of library activity.

In the framework of the conference the Competition of Public Libraries "Biblio Plus" takes place. The focus of the competition is aimed at identifying of innovative projects of public libraries to facilitate the modernization of their activities, positioning the library as a powerful resource for the formation and development of civil society.
