14 October 2012

In the Alexander Park of Tsarskoye Selo after years of restoration, a new museum pavilion - "White Tower" has opened. Built in 1826, it was intended for games and teaching the sons of Emperor Nicholas the First. There Cesarevitch did gymnastics, dancing, fencing, and studied military science and artillery. The monument, which was destroyed almost to the ground, began to recover in 1980. The completion of the project has succeeded just now.

A preserved lean iconography allowed partially reconstructing the decoration of the rooms on six floors. In the space of the Tower the director of the Museum reserve Olga Taratynova embodied the dream of interactive development center. Here are presented the creative workshop where children will make prints and stained glass windows, a dance hall and multimedia exhibition for those wishing to visit the jousting tournament.
