Internet and economy: Study of the Russian Internet market is made
The total volume of the Russian Internet market in 2011 amounted to 553.79 billion rubles. This is stated in the materials of research study provided by the Russian Association of Electronic Communications (RAEC) and the Higher School of Economics.
Experts have analyzed the situation in 11 more growing segments, according to their forecasts, in 2012 the growth of the Internet economy will be 30%. In particular, the market for "cloud computing" in RuNet in 2011 is estimated at 1.89 billion - 34% more than in 2010. The volume of e-commerce market was $ 309.4 billion, an increase of 30%, electronic payments - 166.7 billion rubles, sales of digital content and games - 8.24 billion rubles, which is by 30% higher than the previous year.
"The role of the Internet is increasing every year, as well as the penetration of Internet technologies in the real economy", - said the aide pf the President of Russia Igor Shchegolev. He noted that still online experts consider the estimates and surface approaches, and this study is the first deep study of the Internet economy. "This is a very interesting and serious research. The main thing is the intention of the organizers to make it a regular study, so each year we will compare"- added Shchegolev.
According to director of the RAEC Sergei Plugotarenko, the study will be an annual event, and perhaps will happen even twice a year.
