History of Russia: Exhibition “From Peter the Great to Paul I. Art Treasures of Imperial Russia of the XVIII century” in Irkutsk

On October 5, 2012 the Irkutsk Art Museum opened an exhibition “From Peter the Great to Paul I. Art Treasures of Imperial Russia of the XVIII century”. The exposition will feature to Irkutsk residents exhibits from the museum of the Moscow Kremlin.

The exhibition presents works of Russian, Western European and Oriental Art of the XVIII century. Visitors of the museum will see the cold steel and firearms, silverware, jewelry and gemstones, tapestries, costumes secular, church vestments, Orders.

Many of these unique items are memorial and associated with the names of the Russian monarchs and prominent public figures. So, the exhibition will present a personal weapon of Peter I, service plates of silver, presented to Catherine II by her subjects, things from the unique Orel service, given to Catherine II by her minion Count Orlov.
